Collection: Ophelia

OPHELIA, who is she? In the William Shakespeare play HAMLET, she is Hamlet’s love interest who meets a watery end by drowning herself in a brook after losing her mind. Or does she? There are theories that she took a poison mimicking death and later revived and escaped Denmark.

"There, on the pendant boughs her coronet weeds clambering to hang, an envious sliver broke, when down her weedy trophies and herself fell in the weeping brook..." (HAMLET, Act 4: Scene 7)
